Canadian workers is now at high mental-health risk, up from 1 in 7 before the pandemic.

Insurers aren't cutting mental health coverage. They're capturing it.
Every major Canadian insurer now owns or partners with its own low-cost mental health platform, and steers members to it with low prices, easy claims and the advantage of being the first place they look.
Group practices are capturing much of the rest.
Many bring professional marketing, steady ad spend and a recognizable brand to every search, so they often reach clients first.
Insurer networks
- Reaches clients through
- The insurer's app and employee assistance program, where members start looking
- Offers clients
- Low prices that stretch plan maximums
- Therapists get
- A fraction of private rates, often billed under the platform's number
You, the independent therapist

- Your own time, after sessions
- Offers clients
- Your expertise, if they can find you
- You get
- Your full rate, and all the marketing work
Group practices
- Reaches clients through
- Professional marketers and steady ad spend
- Offers clients
- Brand, staff and top search results
- Therapists get
- A split of every session
The odds are stacked against independent therapists, but Limen changes that for a limited group of therapists.
See how pooled marketing puts independent therapists back in the running. In 20 minutes, we'll show you how it works and whether it fits your practice.
The usual routes to new clients come with a hidden cost.
If you've tried to grow your caseload, you've probably tried at least one of these already. Here's what each one really costs you.
Market yourself
Paid ads, a website and search rankings all take up your spare time and budget.
Open directories
Directories like Psychology Today let anyone list, so every new profile competes for the same searches.
Insurer networks
You get steady referrals, but at a fraction of your rate and often under the platform's clinic number.
Join a group practice
Clients come with the job, but the practice keeps a split of every session you see.
Insurers reach their members first, but their low-cost platforms can't offer the choice or specialized care that many clients are looking for. Those clients are searching right now. Group practices have the budgets to find them. You have the expertise they need, but no marketing team to put you in front of them.
With Limen, all of that changes.
One marketing budget, shared by a group of therapists.
When you work with Limen, all accepted therapists pool their marketing into one professionally managed campaign of paid ads and search, run at cost. Together, that budget can outspend even large group practices, and it's aimed specifically where insurer networks fall short.
Limen is built to get stronger as it grows, not more crowded.
Open directories let anyone list, so every new profile pushes yours further down. Limen caps the number of therapists in each city and specialty, and keeps a balanced mix across the directory. Clients see a short list of strong matches, not pages of profiles, so you stand out, get chosen more easily and build your caseload faster. And because members aren't competing for the same clients, they become each other's best referral partners.

Frequently asked questions about joining Limen.
How do therapists in Alberta find clients?
Most independent therapists in Alberta rely on a mix of a few routes: an open directory profile like Psychology Today; referrals from physicians, colleagues and past clients; insurer and employee assistance networks; contract work with a group practice; and government payers such as WCB-Alberta, Veterans Affairs and NIHB, with Care-First auto insurance claims starting in 2027. Each route helps, but each has a cost: crowded searches, lower rates, a split of every session, or marketing you have to run yourself. Limen gives you one place to bring it together: a limited, professionally marketed listing in Calgary or Edmonton, guidance on your profile, niche and payer registrations, and clients booking straight into your calendar.
How does the listing work, and who can join?
Limen is for registered therapists in Alberta, whether private practice is your full-time work or a caseload you're building on the side. To be listed, you need current registration, liability insurance, live availability in your calendar and the Limen Clinical Package as your practice software. Once TELUS eClaims is live, you'll also need direct billing set up. Openings are limited by city and focus area.
What does it cost?
The directory is one flat monthly fee, the same for everyone, and it runs at cost, so the fee goes down as more therapists join. Business and marketing training is included at no extra cost. Your practice software (the Limen Clinical Package) is a separate fee. We walk you through the numbers on your walkthrough.
How are openings capped?
Each city and focus area has a limited number of places, so every listed therapist has room to build a caseload. When an area fills, new therapists join a transparent waitlist.
Do I need a website?
No. Your Limen profile and page are built to be your main marketing asset. If you already have a website, keep it, and your Limen page links to it.
